The main event of the festival was of course the Nine Below Zero's gig, to close the evening.
I assisted there to my 5th gig of this band (after those of the Spirit of 66 in 2006, the Night of the Blues at Charleroi and the Gouvy Blues Festival in 2007, and once more at the Spirit of 66 in January of this year). The most important things to know about this band has been writen in my previous posts.
It has to be remembered that Nine Below Zero was formed in London at the end of the years '70 by the bluesharp player Mark Feltham and the guitar player Dennis Greaves; it became one of the most important British blues bands, in particular thanks to their live performances on the stages of the Hammersmith Odeon and the Marquee. The band splitted in 1982, but Mark and Dennis reformed it for an anniversary event in 1990; Brendan O'Neill and Gerry McAvoy, who had spend more than ten years touring with Rory Gallagher, joined them to compose the rhythmic section.
Their last work, relaesed this year and called "Both Sides Of", is a box with a double CD/DVD : the CD was recorded live during the 2006 tour, and contents most of Nine Below Zero's hits as we can hear on the electrified gigs; the DVD was recorded during an amazing "unplugged" gig given in 2007.

On the South Blues Festival, the band played in the classic "electrified" formula, during about two hours, and the audience had real fun.
